10 reasons to believe in North America Traffic

Leading-edge traffic control

1. Quality

We manufacture all our products in a 20,000 sq. ft. facility in Port Colborne, Ontario where we employ a ‘5S’ Lean Manufacturing system to ensure efficiency. Our facility is ISO 9001:2015 certified . This international quality standard helps us manufacture traffic signals and flagging devices with consistency and precision, increasing their reliability in the field.

2. Support

We will help your staff become experts on our equipment. When we deliver your new equipment, we always provide on-site training. We even offer OEM certification programs. Several years ago, our president, Peter Vieveen, flew to Bermuda to present a training session. It took less than half a day to train 16 workers in setting up the equipment and programming the controller for all possible work-zone applications.

We provide service and operation manuals for each model, and our technical support team is always available at 1-877-352-4626 and our expanding network of dealers can provide on-site service, if required.

3. Expertise

We pioneered the first Automated Flagger Assistance Device (AFAD), and we’ve spent the last 20 years specializing in traffic signaling devices exclusively. During that time, we’ve gained a wealth of experience customizing equipment for a wide variety of short-term and long-term applications, locations and setups.

4. Ease-of-Use

We designed our equipment to be portable, compact and convenient for one person to set up.

Our software is also extremely user-friendly and intuitive; even ‘techno-phobic’ workers will have no trouble setting up and operating it. No laptop or external device is required. Just assign a ‘master’ signal and program the other equipment through that control panel.

5. Safety

The primary goal of our products is to increase safety. There are about 5,000 fatalities worldwide in work zones each year. Our ultimate goal is to decrease that to zero.

Each time a contractor, an emergency crew or an event manager chooses to use North America Traffic products, they are contributing to that safety goal.

All of the features on our products were engineered for safety. Our products’ automation and remote control systems keep flaggers and crews out of harm’s way. Our high-intensity signals are more visible than human flaggers; they can penetrate darkness, rain, snowfall and fog. Fewer people means less congestion and increased safety in roadways and worksites.

6. Versatility

We are the only manufacturer to offer a complete line of portable traffic signals, and we can customize any of our products to meet your specific needs. For example we custom-designed a flagging device to integrate with radiation detection equipment for the Department of Homeland Security. We adapted our railway pre-emption feature into a ‘hold for bridge’ program for a construction project on the St. Lawrence Seaway.

7. Reliability

Not only does our equipment meet all government and industry codes for quality and reliability, we’ve set the standards.

Our high visibility LED signal lights can operate for 100,000 hours. All of our products are rated for -40°F to 176°F (-40°C to +80°C) temperatures and 80 mph (129 km/hour) winds. Communications via 900 MHz Spread Spectrum frequency hopping resists interference and ensures consistent signal strength. Our trailers have a steel channel frame with durable powder coat finish, heavy-duty axles and tires for off-road travel.

Plus we offer a three year limited manufacturer’s warranty on new equipment.

8. Cost effectiveness

Our portable traffic signals and flagger assistance devices allow you to increase safety in the work-zone with fewer (or no) flaggers on site. Operating our equipment is more cost-effective than traditional means of traffic control.

The costs associated with setting up traditional temporary traffic signal infrastructure on a work zone can exceed $100,000 – and at the end of the job, it’s all taken down! Our portable traffic signals are an investment that can be used over and over again at a fraction of the setup time.

You can rent or purchase North America Traffic equipment through our expanding network of local dealers. If you choose to purchase our equipment, the return on investment for our equipment is typically one to two construction seasons.

9. Customization

We understand that States and Provinces have different requirements and we have the knowledge and capability to meet these specifications. Agencies such as the US Department of Homeland Security and the US Military have relied heavily on our expertise and ability to customize to meet their specific needs. Manufacturing traffic signaling devices is all we do; we can take the time to assess needs on a project-by-project basis to develop a custom solution.

10. Family

As a family business, we understand what it means to treat all of our stakeholders as if they were one of our own. Although our business has grown tremendously over the last 20 years, we continue to stress the importance of individual efforts. Our company was built around a set of core values that still hold true today. We believe that working closely with partners who share our core values is what continues to allow us to grow and thrive.
